Erasmus+ – Celebrating 30 years of enriching lives and opening minds
Erasmus+ programme is the higher education programme of the European Union, which in 2017 celebrates its 30 th anniversary. The original Erasmus began in 1987 as an exchange programme that gave higher education students in Europe an experience of life and learning abroad. Over the past 30 years it has grown into something much bigger. Today, Erasmus+ is open to the whole world and aims at promoting dialogue and strengthening the relationships between European countries and partner countries, such as Pakistan. The programme offers scholarships to students and staff to study in Europe and funds capacity building projects between Pakistani and European universities. The scholarship opportunities include full Master and PhD degrees and short-term student exchange (up to 1 year) at all study levels. Through the Erasmus+ program, higher education institutions can benefit from strategic improvement of the professional skills of their staff, organisational capacity building, and creating transnational cooperative partnerships with organisations from other countries in order to produce innovative outputs or exchange best practices. For universities to participate in Credit Mobility and Capacity building projects of Erasmus+, the deadlines are in February 2017.
